Teacher honored by governor for life of service

Regenia Smith retired after 21 years in the United States Marine Corps.  She is now a teacher in Hillsborough County’s Collins Elementary School.  She thought someone was playing a practical joke on her recently when she received a phone call telling her that she was a teacher honored by Governor Rick Scott for her life of service and contribution.  Smith says that teaching her students and helping them is all the reward and recognition that she needs or wants.  Smith is still giving back to her country and community even after serving 21 years and retiring.  For up-to-date news accounts of this story, photos and to post a comment, please access the links below:
