Teacher Cuts Would Hit High Schools

Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Grego has announced that there will be some rather drastic teacher cuts for the coming school year.  The proposed teacher cuts would hit high schools the hardest.  If there are no changes between now and the start of the new school year, as many as 139 high school teacher positions would be lost.  Some of these could be saved by savings elsewhere and budget projections could change as the budget process continues.  The number of students in Pinellas schools has been declining since 2009.  Principals will decide how to cut the teachers from their individual schools.  For up-to-date news accounts of this story, photos and to post a comment, please access the links below:
