Home Teacher News Florida Board Of Education Lowers Passing Grade On FCAT Writing Test

The State of Florida Board of Education met in emergency session today to deal with the FCAT Writes test.  Due to changes in the grading system and changes to the passing grade, only 27% of 4th graders had passed the test compared to 81% last year.  In the meeting today the Board lowered the passing score by 1 full point, out of a possible 6.  This will allow approximately 80% of 4th graders to pass this year.  For up-to-date news accounts of this story, photos and to post a comment, please access the links below
